August 2022 summer art update

Summer is reaching a crescendo, the garden I’ve been working on, digging in, is growing and changing daily. While somethings are ripening other parts of my growth are just beginning. For instance, I have been accepted into the Milwaukee Artists Resource Network( MARN)’s Mentorship program as a mentee working with artist Maeve Jackson. Check her out online or visit her Laundry closet upstairs at the St. Kate Arts hotel in Milwaukee. Maeve’s got a beautiful way of observing and elevating the art practice within every day domestic practices that resonates with me. Part of my daily practice and goals for this new year starting in August is bravely, patiently(?) learning how to manage my own website without my dear friend, Sandra Miller, who designed it and held my hand the last 5 years. Sandra has a new full-time job with UW health systems. So THAT is my excuse for not updating and uploading the many many new works I have created since 2017! Many of my works in my online gallery have been sold and the originals are no longer available but I do have 26 older images still available in artcards , 3 different cat posters, a series of original mixed media remarked floral photos on canvas, several new felts, acrylic paintings and original watercolors on canvas. I have sold more work through word of mouth, and from small exhibits at libraries, Arts Centers , and juried shows, and completed 4 additional private commissions. My felt ” When He Saw Fire, He Heard Roses” won first place of the FIRE exhibit at The Art Garage in Green Bay, Wisconsin 2022. I will be the featured artist in the Funk Factory’s Taproom the month of October 2022, and 4 artists, some of our little Artist Women Evolve (AWE some) group will have a curated group show titled In Company of Trees at the Schauer Arts Center in Hartford, WI, in February through April 2023. My felt CHICAGO SPRINGS ON LAKE MICHIGAN was featured in Fiber Arts Now summer issue magazine released in July and was invited to be exhibited in the in person exhibit in Connecticut spring ’23, titled Felt: Fiber Transformed.

I have also sold 4 small felts at Furnish Traders unique consignment gallery in Hartford, WI. which helped me pay for 2 great cedar trunks to beautifully store and protect my wool supplies.

Summer has also been about reconnecting with my children and extended family, dirt and water, and so much lush green everywhere!
